The Book of Hosea shows the extent God was willing to go to show Israel how much He loved them, although they had turned their backs on Him. God’s love for you is even greater than what we see in the Book of Hosea. Like Gomer (Hosea’s wife), God bought you from the grips of sin, but the price was far greater than coins, He paid for you with the life of His son. You are worth more to God than you realize!
Let’s talk about how much God loves you:Â
His love is unconditional- Unconditional means His love for you is not dependent on how you act before He loves you. He is not waiting for you to behave right. He wants His love to change your behaviour. He loved you before you knew He existed. There is nothing you have done that will stop God from loving you because while you were a sinner, Christ died for you.                                       (Romans 5:8-But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us).
He is concerned about where you spend eternity– After we die, we will all face judgement that will determine where we spend eternity. Based on our actions on earth and on our obedience to God’s word, we will know where we will spend eternity. God doesn’t want anyone to perish and spend eternity in hell, so He gives us many chances to come to Him.                                       (2 Peter 3:9-The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.)
He sacrificed His son for you – God’s love is more than words, He proved His love by sending His son to die so that you can have a chance at eternal life with Him. Jesus faced a horrible death just for you to be saved.                     (John 3:16-“For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.)
God’s love is the force that will find you no matter where you are in life. This love will cause you to surrender and live for Him.Â
- If you are lost, God’s love will find you.
- If you are ashamed, God’s love will cover you.
- If you give up on Him, God’s love will not give up on you.
- No matter where you are, God sees who you are and loves you.
Romans 8:38-39– For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
