New Beginnings

Do you think God is hurt when we do wrong?

It’s true that God loves us unconditionally, but He is also hurt when we do wrong things. God has emotions, too.

See some of the emotions God shows in His Word:

  • AngerPsalm 106:40 (God was angry at Israel.)
  • HatredProverbs 6:16-19 (7 things God hates)
  • Joy- Zephaniah 3:27 (The Lord will rejoice over you with joy.)
  • LoveJohn 3:16 (He gave His only son because He loves us.)
  • CompassionExodus 33:19 (He will show compassion on which He chooses.)

The true depth of God’s love is shown by the fact that He still loves, although we hurt Him sometimes, yet He still gives us a chance to come to Him.

So what do you do when someone loves you this much? You accept it and show them that you love them too. You should live as a Christian because you love God and you want to grow in your relationship with Him. This is what will motivate you to spend time with Him daily because you want to spend time with the one you love.

Here are some ways to respond to God’s love:

1. Be thankful!– There is something to be thankful for every day. See what God has done or is doing in your life or family.                                                                         (1 Thessalonians 5:23- Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus)

2. Love Him with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength— It is possible with God’s help to love Him like He wants you to love Him. God wants you to love Him with your everything because He gave everything for you to come to Him. When you love God like this, you will desire to please Him always.                                 Matthew 22:36-38- “what would you think say or do if God was standing right beside you? “Teacher, which is the most important commandment in the law of Moses?”Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment).

3. Obey Him– love is an action word! It’s one thing to say, “I love you”, but it means even more when you prove what you do.  God proved His love for you by saving you but are you willing to do what His Word says? You obey Him by doing what the Bible says and loving others the way He wants you to love them, so that everyone can know you as His disciple and a light to the world. (John 14:15-If you love me, obey my commandments.)

4. Love others in the right way. The more we say yes to God’s love and allow Him to change us, the more we will treat others the way He wants us to. (John 13:35-Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples)

God loves you and He wants to know that you love Him too. Talk to Him daily, invite Him into every area of your life and allow Him to touch your heart so you can love Him with all you heart, mind and soul.
