2 Corinthians 5:17-This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!
New Creation—This is another name for “born-again Christian.” It is not a physical process of re-entering your mother’s womb but a spiritual process where you experience new life on the inside. It’s receiving a nature that will help you become more like Christ because He changes your heart.
Brand new cell phone?
Being
a New Creation is like an updated cell phone, made to function and cater to present-day demands, but it has to be charged. However, if you do not read or hear the Word of God and pray to find out what is needed to be like Jesus, you will fall into temptation and repeat cycles. The Word is like a charger plugged into the power source to give life.
The new you want the things of God. As you spend time with God, He will increase your desire to live a holy life that is pleasing to Him because you have His life in you.
You are no longer a sinner.
What happened to the old you? I’m glad you asked. Being a new creation doesn’t mean that you will automatically forget the person you were or the things that you liked to do that were wrong in God’s eyes. However, God gives you the power as you read the Word and pray to not give into those desires anymore. You may make mistakes sometimes, but God will help you not to practice sinning everyday.
1 John 3:9– Those who have been born into God’s family do not make a practice of sinning, because God’s life is in them. So they can’t keep on sinning, because they are children of God.
You must remind yourself that who you were is not who you are now and make the daily steps to become a different person.
Romans 12:1-2- So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.
Being a New Creation means you DO NOT have to live the way you lived before accepting Jesus as your Saviour. The old you is gone! You may fail and encounter difficult moments, but the conviction of God who lives in you will motivate you to repent and try again if you allow it to.
